California winters, we have learned, are not very cold. But the trade-off, is that they are pretty rainy. We have seen quite a bit this week. We had planned to travel to the coast this weekend, but with 80% chances of rain, we stayed in Visalia for our third weekend in a row. It's amazing that the radar can show no rain, and then all of a sudden it IS raining....where are we??
Chris and I have been "loopholed" into Lost. We haven't seen an episode before, but spent this rainy weekend catching up with the last 5 seasons. We are hooked!
We have 3 nice sized parks surrounding our apartment complex. It is nice for after work frisbee and playing fetch with Tas. In order to get to 2 of the parks, we have to walk through the grounds of the complex, which takes about 5 minutes. Somehow over the past 2 weeks, we have befriended a gaggle of middle-school girls who are in love with her. They love to pet her, and especially like to throw her ball with the chuck-it. That is all fine and dandy, except sometimes we don't want to hang out with 12 year olds at the park. As soon as one of them sees us, they all text each other and soon there are 6-8 girls who want to come and play. I have found myself sneaking around trying to avoid the girls. Maybe they'll tire of us soon??
We were introduced to the Wii this week. It is very popular in nursing homes to have Wii Bowling leagues. Yep, they line 6 wheelchairs up in front of a TV and pass the little controller around so each one can play. Entertaining! We also use the Wii in therapy on occassion to work on balance. It's pretty cool to see the elderly embracing this technology. They love it.
The weather is looking good for travelling next weekend. We are 3 hours away from Yosemite Nat'l Park and about the same to the coast (San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Paso Robles). Depending on the forecast, we will be heading to one of those destinations on Friday.
Off to watch the Superbowl...
